Reception Speeches: Charlie

Also, sorry for the delay here. I was playing with a new WordPress plug in for this site that basically totally killed my SQL database and I had to re-build this site from scratch. Weeks of work were blown away in a few hours so bear with me as I bring this back to its full glory.

Reception Speeches: Dave

I guess I should have figured that iTunes would not be happy with multiple podcasts in a single blog post. So, to make iTunes happy, I will have to post each speech as a separate blog entry. I will set time stamps on these so each day, a new post will appear.

Reception Party Speeches

We brought out a number of iPods to the reception, one of them to record the speeches on the PA system. It worked better than I thought it would so here they are. Most are pretty short so I have left them as individual files for you to download. These are kept in the order in which they were given.

Finally, the post reception podcast

Well, it only took us about a month but we wrap up the reception planning and the reception. I will also be posting many of the speeches given at the reception.

We are now at a point where we are trying to figure out what exactly is next with the podcast. I would prefer to get back to a weekly show, but we do not want to be the Dawn and Drew show. We need something different. We are kicking around some ideas to set us apart - while keeping us on the wedding, newlywed theme. We have also learned a ton about wedding planning and would like to help others going through this. We’d like to hear your ideas as well, if you have any. Drop us an e-mail at: chadericawedding@gmail.com

Who wants a wedding DJ when you’ve got an iPod?

Excerpt taken from Engadget:

“We kind of understand the rationale. Why spend hundreds of dollars to hire a wedding DJ when you can load up an iPod or two (or a laptop, for that matter), and choose the playlist yourself down to the last song? Got a request? Put it in the queue, buddy! Because for less money than hiring Robbie Hart to belt out the classics you can just buy yourself a shiny new friend and sort it out yourself. Of course, the DJs argue that only a live person behind the decks can sense what the crowd wants to hear right then, time music properly, do intros, and all thatrot, but as we recently learned when we actually did attend a wedding DJed by iTunes and a playlist, it just doesn’t seem to matter as much as they might have you think.”
We did the iPod DJ thing at our reception and it was perfect. We spent a few (too many) hours putting together various play lists, borrowed a buddies PA system, made more than 3 trips to Radio Shack, but all said, it was much easier and cheaper than a real DJ - and DJ’s are so 1990… There is an interesting article on this - see the link below.

We need your help!

With less than 2 weeks to the reception, we are trying to plan the “iPod DJ” dance mix. With over 14,000 songs to choose from, it is harder than you think to pick good songs to dance to - so we turn to you. Please comment here or e-mail us at chadericawedding@gmail.com and give us your suggestions.

Also, learn what happened when Chad learned to swear as well as other lively discussions about life.

Back in the house! To give off the registry or not…

To give good friends gifts from their registry or is that too impersonal? And what happened to our lives that we now find ourselves spending out weekends at Home Depot and Bed Bath and Beyond?

A mash-up weddincast from 2 different parties

This weeks episode is a bit of a mash up from two episodes we were unable to finish. We start off with a podcast from the Colorado reception party we had. The goal was to podcast through out the night with various guests but after too much alcohol, that never materialized like we thought so we bring you the opening to that.

The second part of this is Erica, myself, Chris and Jen traveling to another wedding. We chat in the car ride down about gifts, strip clubs and a host of other topics. I did my best to filter out the car noise using Apple’s SoundTrack Pro noise filter and it did a pretty good job.
